I went to Michael's and bought some cheap wooden ornaments that are meant to be painted. Jacob, my 3 yo, helped me pick them out. We got a couple of stars, a gingerbread man, a bird, a heart, and a few others. On days when things get hectic and Jacob needs a project, I set him up at the table with ceramcoat paints and he paints away! Of course the color combos are hideous
, but we plan to give them to the grandparents for Christmas. He paints a bit with a few colors, and then we hang them outside to dry and they get put away until next time. Then we get them out again and he puts different colors on them. So far they have been cycled through three times -- one more time and they should be done. All the grandparents will love them, and it is pretty affordable and memorable.
We could still add glitter, jewels, or even decoupage pictures of the boys on them for an even more personal touch.
