Hey I'm making my first pair of longies for a baby that I can't just measure lol what length do you all like for newborn longies? I'm debating doing footed longies so if you done that and have any lenght advice on where to start the ribbing etc I'd love to hear it

before my dd was born I made hers 6". I ended up folding them (could have gone 5") but she grew more in length than width so I was able to put them on her longer. She is almost 6 months and they still fit her...but they are capris lol

I used the Wonderpants pattern size xs and made the inseam 7" - at 2.5 months they fit perfectly, but she has been wearing them since birth. I rolled the cuff and didn't worry about them being too long because she wasn't exactly going anywhere! So if you want a perfect fit right away max 6" but if you want an inseam that you can work with and will last awhile I think 7" is great.
