Just wanted to share a terrific Valentine project.
I got this from another website, but it was so much fun for my 2 and 4 year old that I decided to share this with you--
We started by grating a red crayon and then sprinkled the shavings onto a large sheet of wax paper. Next we folded it in half and then I placed a warm iron--not hot-- just on low temp. on the top half. The wax shavings then melted into a beautiful pattern. We waited just a moment or two for it to dry and then unfolded the paper. Next we traced heart shapes and cut out the beautiful hearts. Afterwards we put a small hole in the top and threaded either a string or ribbon through the top. finally we hung them from a curtain rod in our kitchen.
The effect is just beautiful! You could even make a mobile from a hanger! They are so delicate and cheery on a cold winter's day-- something to brighten our spirits!
Well, good luck and please share any other Valentine projects that you might have. We would love to do more!
We do something like that, too. Only difference is we cut out a construction paper frame for it; ie. trace a giant heart on 2 pieces of paper and cut out about an inch or so frame. Then, glue the wax paper heart in the middle and hang in the window.
