Why don't you just rib knit a 6 or seven inch tube in one color and then crochet a little pad circle in another color? I think this is the sort of thing you wing.

Yeah that might be too complicated for my amateur knitting skills though... I was hoping I could maybe make the pad area cloth and then like get one of those dudes at the mall with the booths to take the Franti picture and superimpose it on the fabric?
