Great advice, MamaFern - I was thinking of doing something similar. The only thing I don't like about this pattern is the garter stitch edge. A slipped stitch edge is a lot smoother, IMO.

I've got vicodin brain (dental issues, don't ask) and I think this might be the only thing I could knit without screwing up tonight... Might be doing another ... we'll see how a couple rows of my cascading leaves go first though...

Mooooom! to  guitar.gifDS (1/05) and whistling.gifDSS (11/05).  TTC fingersx.gifour "ours" after VR on 10/12.

yep, its looks way nicer with the smooth edge.. i did the garter stitch edge on the first few rows and then just switched ( im not a huge fan of garter stith on any occasion..).. it doesn't look perfect but its right at the back so its okay.. its my first one anways! now i know just to slip them from now on.

I didn't read thru all the posts but there's a crochet version on craftster.org as well. It's really easy and can be done in maybe an hour! I made one as a gift and keep meaning to do one for myself...you know how it goes!

I am too far into it now to slip the last stitch. So the next one I do, I will do that.
Just about finished with my first one. I had to frog what I had done from last night and start over. So much for watching a comedy while knitting.

I don't think I will ahve much more time tonight to knit, as I am getting kiddos ready for Halloween...

nope, not really, because thats 3 slipped stitches that make an applied icord.. one slipped stitch just makes it look braided and smooth

Some did KFB (knit front and back) some did PFB (purl front and back) ... I did PFB.

Crap you guys! I have a new project now!

Actually thanks, I am been making hats and scarves for the kidlets with cool weather FINALLY here in TX, and this is something more "funner" to work on! Between my kids, gifts for other kids, and a charity my SnB group is involved with I feel like all I have made lately is HATS.

I think my mama would absolutely love this, her ears get cold.

Heck, MY ears get cold, I need one too!

This is also an excellent gift for a runner ... in my experience, I get too hot wearing a cap, but my Panta provides just the right amount of coverage.

I am obsessed with these things.

slip as in dont knit it.. slip it onto the needle and then knit the next one so it kind of pulls the slipped stitch around.. its confusing but not

Probably ... you could use purl stitches to create the horizontal ribbing, and short rows to shape it ... too complicated for me. I like the simplicity of this pattern.

Very pretty color! I have some great LP Bulky I think I'll use, too. Doesn't seem too much larger...
