For those of us who want to knit something larger than a one skein project, I'm starting our own thread

Should we just go ahead and vote so we can get started?

1. the surplice top from the new interweave knits
2. simple knitted bodice from stitch diva
3. starsky from knitty
4. lingerie...I'm kind of partial to the lace nightie

I will eventually be knitting all four so I'mk up for any of these projects.

Anyone else?

I'm in!

I would love to make the simple knitted bodice (my favorite!) or the lace nightie.

I'm still waffling on a KAL, but I do love that simple knitted bodice! But I would have to put in a ton of short rows in the front for a preggo belly, and I'd rather have 3/4 sleeves. Though I would have to order substitiute yarn (*expensive* for the suggested yarn) online for it.

I actually already have yarn for for the snb (duh! SKB) ...I substituted b/c I couldn't afford the tilli tomas! As soon as DD wakes up, I'll go grab a skein and tell you what I used.... elsebeth lavold's silky tweed (40% silk, 30% cotton, 20% extra fine merino)

I'm also toying with the idea of 3/4 sleeves....

(and no worries have wool )

Ooo, I'd love to KAL for the SKB. I'm using silk/merino from Tess Yarns.

I just called my LYS - no Interweave yet. I think that means I'd prefer the SKB for this KAL...and as soon as it's done, I'm all for an Interweave KAL LOL

I need to buy yarn, too. I was thinking of something that will get more wear in spring/summer (and of course I'll be huge!) so I don't want it too warm- so maybe a cotton blend. I'm thinking of Knitpicks Shine Worsted, Cascade Pima Silk, or maybe Estelle 100% Silk. And though I'm not much of a sparkly girl, I'm contemplating some of this to maybe carry along on a couple of rows of the lacier part.

Though I'll probably stick with KnitPicks since I'm cheap .

I had to cast on for it... i just couldn't stop myself. LOL
over at stitch diva, there's a few pics of finished sweaters using different yarns...
http://www.stitchdiva.com/custom.aspx?id=184

my yarn: http://www.carodanfarm.com/shopsite_...roduct741.html in rust (06).
birdiefu l - what colors are you contemplating and ohmel- what color did you get?

2tolove, what yarn are you going to go with?

and billie - which yarns are you thinking about? i think that estelle silk might be a nice substitution, if you want to stay true to the pattern....

I actually found the perfect yarn from a local supplier this evening! It looks a lot like the brown tweed in the estelle silk line. I do have to wait on needles, though. They don't carry them in that size here. All of mine are bigger than what the pattern calls for. Should be here in a couple of days, though! I can't wait!

Alaska, how far have you gotten?

OMG Alaska, you will be done before I cast on . I'm going with the KnitPicks in Terra Cotta for the main color and Sunflower for the lace part. Also picked up the KnitPick Options while I was there...I need a good smooth variety of circulars! And I knit tight so I will probably end up on 9's to get gauge.

I really want the knitpick options! There's someone else online who did the SKB in two different colors. Have you seen it...sort of a beige color with black band? I didn't totally love the colors, but thought it was a neat idea!

No, I haven't seen on actually done with 2 colors yet, I hope mine comes out looking okay. Those two colors seem to complement each other even though there wasn't much of a selection of colors I liked- I would have gotten the two shades of purple but I have enough purple as it is!

Question about sizing- I hate patterns that just base size on bust since I'm a 32DD/DDD (depending on brand) so I might go with a smaller size and short-row the bust. But I can't figure out from the pattern where exactly the bust area is. Somewhere around where you divide the sleeves but before you join in the round? Maybe those of you ahead of me can give me an idea when you get to that part. I'm know I'm gonna go crazy with short-rows on this, especially with the tummy (please, please I hope I don't have to frog too much!).

Where did you see that? I was actually thinking about adding a black band, but then decided not too. I wasn't sure how it would turn out.

Birdie, those sound like awesome colors! They should really compliement each other.

The cool thing about this one is you try it on as you go...I think you'd b e able to tell when you start needing to add short rows birdiefu, pretty easily?

Billie, I ran into the two tone skb constantly....now when I want to, I can't find it! The only place I haven't checked yet is the KAL at craftster.org.....

Yeah, I'm hoping the try-on part can start before the bust. How's your progress coming, Alaska? Billie, black might look pretty good with that darker yarn you have .

From the pics I've seen online, the trying on can definitely start before the you're too far into the bust.

Hmm... maybe I'll go back and take a look at that yarn, again. Thanks!

I should have everything, and be ready to go, by Wednesday.

My family of 3 (plus pup) Indigo (Aimee), Rob (dp), Ryne (ds) & Phebe (dog), plus my BIL's family of 3.

I need to order yarn but I like both SKB and Sahara, tho I think I'd prefer Sahara for a winter sweater and do SKB for summer. Andean silk is nice and drapey but not sure how well it would hold up in a top like this. What yarns is everyone going with?

what all yarns have y'all seen this in that look good other than the ones mentioned? i wish i had time to get some henry's attic yarn and dye my own for this, but i'm just in the process of setting up my account so i don't guess i'll have time if y'all are starting already.

If you do a search for simple knitted bodice KAL, you'll see lots of pics...there was one on craftster.org, sexy knitters club did one, and there was another out in blogland....
