I think I'm going to set aside the sock I'm making dh and work on baby socks- I have 3 friends due this spring!

Ok, so I ended up casting on..... both socks. But I'm mainly working on the purple one, cuz I just can't stand the feel of the red heart. ick. DD is begging me to make something for her, so I think I'll frog that one and restart it with the right amount for her foot. someday.

Ok, I haven't knit in three days now. :

I have to frog my sock. It's too small for my dd.

So I'm procrastinating, and not knitting.

chamamama~what did you get at etsy??

Okay, I'm down to the foot, after the decreases at the gusset. I hope this fits as I love how it looks and this is really fun seeing it come together.

How is everyone doing? I can't wait to try two socks on one circular. Any good patterns for one? and what needle did you get for that? I have the knit picks options, but the longest that their size 0 or 1's come in is only 32" long and I 'm not sure that's long enough for two socks at the same time. am I mistaken?

Malva, sorry to hear you have to frog, what a bummer. Hope next one is perfect!!

This is what came in the mail today:

Fearless Fibers yarn

I casted on using the Thuja pattern from knitty. We'll see, it might be too small, but the yarn is sure is purty!

Lisa, I want to see pics! And congrats on your race, speedy mama!

Can't see your pic . Will check again later - maybe it's just this DST computer mess.

I like how fast this sock knitting goes! I'm nearly two inches and just cast on last night - maybe 30 mins of knitting.

I started a sock today for DD using the pattern I got from calculating her measurements here:

http://www.princeton.edu/~ezb/sockform.html

Now i'm thinking I'd rather rip the whole thing out and start over...there are mistakes in the pattern! I got all the way to the heel flap, and the instructions have me leaving the same slip st on the left side, so my fabric is goin wonky and is turning into a wedge instead of a square!

anyway, I've looked at silver's and I like that one, so I guess I'm going to start over... Ah well, only one evening wasted, right??

sigh... I am almost finished with my first sock, and I think I am going to have to frog it. I'm not sure what I did wrong, but the circumfrence of the foot is way too big. I think I skipped some decreases, or used the number for the worsted weight instead of sport weight. Oh well. I'd rip back, but I don't know how I'd keep track of which stitches go back on which needles.

angelorum~sooo sorry to hear that you have to frog, how disappointing! just think how much you know for next time and how smooth that will make things go.

christy~sorry to hear that your's isn't turning out the way that you want it to either. I'm using silver's sock class and it works well. I'd like to try something more intricate next time, but for my first sock, silver's was the way to go for me. I'm sure the next one will turn out great!!

I frogged and started over and it's going well.

I'm a first time sock knitter and it's really not any harder than mittens, only on size 0 dpns! I really enjoy it.

I finished one! I used an 80/20 cotton/rayon blend in worsted on 7's--I should have used 6's. It fits, but is a little bulky...but I don't mind. They are just for slipper socks anyway.

It was really fun--except the ribbing, that part seemed to take forever. I'm ready to move on to smaller needles and cool sock yarn...I've got sock fever .

Here it is--ok, promise not to laugh first

Oooh, pretty! I hope mine come out that nice!

Interesting side note: I'm working w/ a blue/green/light blue varigated worsted that has got to be leftover from a VERY OLD (like 1970's) yarn stash, (SIL bought me 2 boxes of yarn at a yard sale). its called "Majesty WINTUK made by DuPont...anyway, it is making the coolest candy-stripe spiral design! think candy-cane, with a dark green/dark blue background and a sky blue spiral stripe about 3 rows thick. I don't know if regular modern-day varigated yarn does that, but its really cool, lol.

Starting the heel flap!!
