I'm looking for some sort of hair accessory for the wedding - to go with a very renaissance-style dress.

It will be Christmas - so, Holly, snowflakes, silver, crystal...stuff like that is what I'm thinking.

But, all I can find that I actually like are WAAAAY too expensive.

Is it unreasonable to think I could make something like this?

I made DD a head wreath for my SIL's wedding three years ago and it didn't hold up (and it was silk!) - the flowers started to separate.

I also don't want it to be a HUGE thing - width-wise...just something really delicate. I've even considered just wearing my hair in a loose french braid and sticking baby's breath in it. But, I think that would drive me nuts - that it would fall out all night.

Any ideas?

For my wedding I made a crown out of wire and beads. I bought some heavy gauge silver wire at a beading store and formed it into a circle by wrapping it 3 times around a large cyllander. Then I took a smaller gauge wire (I think it was 24 gauge) and used it to bind the three "strands" together in an irregular way (so it kind of looked like a loose braid. And as I did that I added glass beads. When I was done I bent the sides down so that it formed to my head. Then I used bobby pins to keep it attached.

I will scan a picture for you tomorrow.

Another thing I have done is take the plastic hair combs and wire silk flowers onto them. I've also wired silk flowers onto bobby pins with good results.

The other day in a store I saw a candle decoration thingie, it was big enogh to use as a crown, and it was grapevine narrowy looking stuff with little crystals all over it, it was beautiful and I wore it all around the store before dp told me I was a giant goof ball and took it off my head. Give me an excuse to go buy two, one for me and one for you! :LOL
