I need to finish up a skein of aplaca cloud. I used a little over half to make a lacey knitted scarf for my neice. There's not enough left to make another scarf unless it's really really skinny. I'd rather try crocheting with it. I thought a crochet hat with it could be really cool with the scarf and work well durning the summer since it's so open and airy.

anyway.. i've been searching for an hour for crochet patterns in laceweight yarns and haven't found any. I saw some people talking about using patterns that call for size 10 corchet cotton that it's similar but i have not found that to be true at all.. the laceweight is much thinner .. expecially this particular laceweight... i swear it's more like thread and i could put it in my serger instead of woolly nylon

anyway.. just curious if anyone has a good list of crochet patterns for laceweight yarns.

Try this site here - http://www.knitting-crochet.com/croc...uecrochet.html and look for patterns calling for size 20 or 30 cotton. Hope this helps.

I am the type that would wing it. If you want a lacy crochet cap I would make chain 5 (arbitrary number), join in a circle. then increase by working 2 sts into the previous round. Continue in that manner until it gets big enough. Throw in your favorite motif/sts pattern. Keep on going until it is big enough to put on your head.

Some of my favorite items (knitted or crochetted) have been something I have made up as I go along.

I used some Cherry Hill Merino Lace doubled and crochetted a lovely scarf for a friend. I think I wouked a triple (or was it double) crochet stitch 3 times in every 3rd or 4th stitch, with simple SC base rows.

Hope that makes sense my almsot 2y/o is needing me and I gotta go.

perhaps you could also double the yarn up and use a pattern that called for something thicker?
