Mama to Amelia - age 6
I made a moby from 5 yds of cotton gauze, didn't need any sewing or anything. I just fold it in half lengthwise & bingo-bango it's ready to tie. I'm a fairly small gal (5' and small-framed), but Hubby (6' and medium-build) can use it, too, so I'd say 5-5.5 yards would be plenty for you.
There is a sale on a bunch of 10 oz 100% cotton Jersey at Wazoodle (http://www.wazoodle.com/cgi-bin/cats...Sale&start=72). If you buy five or more yards it is 2.99 a yard. The fabric is 60" wide so you can cut the length of a 5 yard piece and get two wraps (one for the house, one for the car or for a friend) for 15 bucks (plus shipping) with no sewing involved. I just ordered some the other day. And gauze wraps are great too (and gauze was on sale at JoAnn fabrics the other day... also a good deal).
