Ok you all know the patchwork or strip style empire waisted dresses? The ones that are tank dresses. I have been searching high and low for a pattern for these but as nursing dresses. I want a couple for this summer but will not pay the 70-80 dollars they seem to be going for. Anyone know? I have looked high and low!

Have you tried Elizabeth Lee patterns? Maybe she has something you could modify. I'll look around for you if I get a chance today. Do you have a picture somewhere of the dress? I am not sure exactly which kind you are talking about. Just a tank dress made from strip/patch fabric?

I tried Elizabeth Lee I couldn't find it. I am a begginer really for sewing so I need something simple. Here is a link so you can get an idea of the style of dress!

how the heck is that made into a nursing dress???

the only one that i could potential for was the one that had a decorative square on the chest and you'd have a slit underneath

in terms of the patchwork skirt, that can be done with any pattern. what you would do is put together your strips or squares, basically making the fabric and then cut the skirt out of that

maybe take another look at www.elizabethlee.com and look at dress #204

it can be made sleeveless which would be similar to the pictures you showed

you dont have to cut it out of a single fabric, piece together your fabrics like i mentioend in my other posting

Love 'em!
I'm gonna make one too!! Oh, wait, I have to finish something before I can get more fabric. Okay. I'm gonna go finish a project and THEN go make one of those!!
Thanks!
Oh, and I think you could make a lot of those with nursing access. You could also do dropped armholes on the sides and wear a tank-t underneath. Or put in invisible zippers between the top and skirt. Let me know how it turns out!
