, I'm not a true fanatic, I guess; I'm not going to be in line at B&N at 12:01am...I'll wait until the next day to pick it up!

Is anyone using beads for the MS3? I just called around to the craft stores & the smallest crochet hook anyone has is a #12... I'm wondering if that will work.

I don't know what your x-dh's personality type is, but is it, perhaps, time to introduce your daughter to the wonderful world of scathing retorts? Wouldn't want to get her into "trouble" with him, but geeez, a girl's gotta defend herself from the meanies -- even if they are her father! (It actually shut my dad up a few times -- he took pleasure in demeaning -- I mean teasing -- the quiet/polite).

Anywho... my yarn left knitpicks on the 11th! *crosses fingers it arrives soon*

In years past I have just bought in the next day. I have never bought it at 12. but if I ever will now is the time and my sil wants to do all this with me. so...

And as far as my ex is concerned... We are working on having personal boundaries/ responsibilities, etc. I want her to be clear that her choices are her own. BUT he will punish her if anything like that happens. He would spank her for "mouthing off"

He recently told me that if I allow her to call him to ask him if she can stay home from visitation he would punish her when she got to his house. :

So we have been having a fun time with that.
Sorry OT.

UM, I only have 12 rows of this clue left!

Yuck!

Guess what! I got my yarn today, finally. Now I'm thinking I want to skip the beads because I want to get started right away! I bought a size 12 crochet hook, but my tiniest beads don't fit over it & I don't have enough of the slightly larger ones, so I think I'll run into the bead shop tomorrow to grab a wee bag...

...she says casually, as if she won't go hog wild like she did at JoAnn's yesterday with twice the amount of fabric she needed...

What? I never ever ever not bought too much at a craft store! Show some restraint!

Yeah right.

If I love the pattern when it's complete I may knit another in black or white with beads. I would have loved beads but this variegated I have now seems more casual-sweater-and-jeans that glitzy.

I am thinking black with crystals would be stunning though

Oh, finished clue 3 today btw. this morning. This clue just sped by. Lots of stockinette, easy little sections. It was very nice. now I want more!!!

Or I could finish LTK vests, picky pants, swatch for my sweater, swatch for a cotton lace curtain, or any number of things that I need to do which was my REASON for getting done with this clue quickly...

Babe *just* got to sleep so I will quickly clean up a bit and block for pics before going to pick up the kids.

Wow! You are SO much better than me... I've been so crazed lately, I still have made absolutely NO progress. Thank goodness for the Harry Potter delay :-D.

I'm optimistic that I'll have time for knitting again next week! :-D Sigh... I actually really miss it. But I can't complain b/c it's getting pushed aside for spinning and dyeing, so there are worse things!

Oh, and I am so with you on the craft store thing! I went the other day for two items (yes, count them -- just two!) and came out with huge bags of stuff. I even looked for beads but couldn't seem to find size 8. Plenty of 6 or 10, but no 8. Am I missing something?? Oh well, I wasn't going to do it on this one anyways... it was just in case I decided to do a second one with some cream alpaca lace I have. Of course, part of my problem is that I have an art obsessed little girl, so I can never seem to avoid the children's crafts section!

Bella -- can't wait to see the results of clue #3!

Zoom! You're fast! My last post was a bit jumbled, but I've decided to skip dyeing the yarn & move straight on to knitting, but grab some beads first. I just printed the clue 1 chart!

baby fussin, gotta run - bella babe -- LOVE the colors of yours!

errrg. My husband was jabbering away to me tonight while I was trying to follow the chart and I missed a stitch. It took me forever to find it and frog back to it. I'm gonna go blind or crazy by the end of this stole! (Yes, this is my first attempt at lace.)

Also, I started mine on Denise size 6 but I want to switch to single points. Well, it turns out Denise size 6 is 4.25mm, which I ofcourse do not have. double errg.:

oh so sad! I love using circs for my lace. even though sometimes I think straights would be easier. Way easier to avoid dropped stitches

That does stink...of course you could always go to your lys & buy more (& get some of whatever yarn is on sale, too... ).

I forgot one little thing about getting started... balling a 900 yard skein of laceweight! Uugh! I'm about 20 yards in.

WOOT! I finished balling the yarn (yawn, that took forever!) and am 22 rows in to clue #1! I figure since it's 2am maybe I ought to stop & hit the hay.

Oh, in HP news, I arrived at my B&N at 10:07 only to realize they closed at 10pm, so I have to wait til tomorrow (today ) to get my book! Hope you're having fun reading, Bella Babe!

I did have fun reading! I bought the book at midnight at Kroger with my SIL (who just happens to be my long time best friend and a fellow insane HP nerd) She stayed over at our house where we, ahem, stayed up until 5 am reading.

No knitting at this house over the weekend! But I finished yesterday with HP so today I will start on the 4th clue!

back to ms3 tonight...wish i dared to try it during the day, but i know i'd mess something up with my constant starting, stopping, pulling yarn from baby's fingers...

dang it...I knit another 2 rows, then screwed up the 3rd...now i'm missing a stitch *somewhere* THIS is why you don't come home after 2 glasses (okay, 1 1/2 glasses; I'm a cheap date ) of wine and dive into lace knitting. and I dropped another bead.

Yeah. I do that a lot. One thing is, DO NOT try to fix said mistake while up late and tipsy.

If, that is, you love your lace and want it whole and safe...

I have a theme guess! I searched and apparently I am not the only one who thought this. But I thought of it on my own!

"Persephone's Descent"

The myth of Demeter, Persephone, Hades, etc? Anyone? Beuller?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Persephone

basically it is the myth that explains a whole lot of stuff, including the balance of summer/winter, death/life, dark/light

I am thinking we are working descent upward right now. Hades is the symbol on the bottom working upward and this center panel could be either Snow or Flowers or both.

One knitter mentioned that it seemed like the seasons but that it wouldn't make sense with the black or white theme, but Persephone would. Also, it wouldn't be ideal for a bride. Unless say, that bride was me, then i would think it was way cool.

In fact, if this is the theme I will be so stoked. I am so into mythology. I would totally cast on another in black or white to have it be fitting with the theme.

I finished Clue #1 last night. Man, knitting lace is slow work! What is there to get addicted to? I'm constantly losing my place and counting along. I can't knit while talking, watching TV, or with my kids. It's pretty and all, but I don't think I'm going to get addicted.

Bella's Rules of Lace Knitting

Rule #1 - If you need to, it's perfectly acceptable by all knitting goddesses for their ardent followers to lock themselves in a happy little room away from all children, spouses, pets, and well meaning neighbors.

Rule # 2 - Only you know what you need. Use it all if need be. Lifelines. Moving a post it/magnet/what have you along every 4 or 6 or 8 stitches. you won't ever have to count back more than a couple stitches to find where you got all flustercated. Although this may possibly be avoided if one follows rule number 1.

Rule #3 - If you make a wee mistake remember the galloping horses (or naked woman) theory. If either the aforementioned was wearing your creation, would anyone notice your mistake? I have several little mistakes in my stole. Will I notice them? Sure. Will anyone else? Not likely. I went and fixed the mistakes that would bother me and fudged on the rest by a sneaky little yo or k2tog. It's all about you baby. Keeping the knitting mojo is, in my book, way more important than ripping back hours (days, weeks, etc) of work to fix something minor.

Rule #4 - Stitch count is really not the most important thing. Learn to read your lace. You can have the perfect amount of stitches on the needles and have them all be wrong due to a missed k2tog or something early on. Only time can give you this so keep knitting! (Maybe remember rule #1)

Rule#5- Enjoy it! Relax! Lace can offer such a bounty of knitty time on a budget. Where else can you get a couple months of hobby work for 3.99?

Rule #6 Know, Learn, and Love Rule # 1
