I am knitting a pair of longies for a friend. She purchased the wool and gave it to me to knit up for her. I told her the yardage I would need to make a pair of longies in her DD's size.

I am halfway through one leg and there is NO way I am going to have enough yarn to finish these and make them into longies. About the best I am going to be able to do is capris.

So WWYD? Do you think I should call her and just tell her they will have to be capris? Should I try to figure out a creative way to make them into longies?

Ideas?

Do you have an odd skein in your stash that's a complimentary color and weight? Perhaps you could do stripes? or ribbed cuffs/waist in another color?

Or maybe just make her a soaker and call it a day .

You can't just tell her you miscalculated and ask what she wants to do? I think that's what I would do. Give her her options... capris, soaker, or buy more yarn. I can't imagine people expect you to be perfect all the time.

I would either purchase more yarn myself to finish them, or find something in my stash to match.

Yeah, I think if you have some yarn in your stash you could just present the truth and ask her if she would like stripes/cuffs, or just capris. Capris could be worn more of the year

I have some pretty purple to match.

I'm going to see how long I can get the legs with the variegated yarn. Then I will call and see what she wants me to do.

I know, isn't she sickening? That talent needs to be spread out a little more evenly.
