I just saw this wreath in a catalog and would love to try to make one.

any thoughts on how I'd go about it? I would look for a form at Michael's or something, but would I need any type of pattern? I haven't crocheted in a while, and I'm having trouble wrapping my brain around what seems like it should be pretty straightforward.

I'm not much of a crocheter, but could you chain a few inches (whatever the circumference of your form is plus a few more stitches), then join, then dc or tc or whatever you want around and around and around until it's the length you want, stuff with the form, and sew it up

or you could basically crochet a scarf, wrap it around the form, and sew the seam down the back

I'm sure there is some slick way to do it but these are a couple of 101-type ideas

it is a very pretty wreath

That wreath is so cool ( I love all things colorful). Not sure how you would go about that.

Cute!

It looks like straight single crochets to me. I have no idea what would be the easiest way to construct - make it flat and wrap around or crochet a tube and slide it on.

You would have to crochet it flat, and then seam it in the back. Otherwise, you would have to cut the styrofoam form, and risk it buckling.

Thanks, everyone. I came to the same conclusion when I thought about it. Assuming the form will be a solid piece, I'll have to seam it. wish me luck...

Look at the craft store for upholstery needles. They are curved, and will allow you to make those seams without digging into the styrofoam mold.

Why seam? No one will see the back. I would just use thumb tacks or pins to hold it on the form.

:

I'm a bit lazy about stuff like that. I'd probably try glue compatible with styrofoam. If you use pins, you can change it for the seasons.
