I just got my kit for a 14" doll from Dancing Rain Dolls. I am very impressed with the quality of the fabrics/roving/etc and I ordered a premade head and it just looks huge compared to the arms/legs/etc.! (and yes, I know on her kits the lines are sew lines not cut lines)
Just wondering if I should get a smaller head? Or try to make one? I guess because I ordered a premade head she didnt include parts to make on in the kit.
The fabric stretches a lot once you start stuffing. It doesn't seem stretchy, but the wool just keeps going in! My doll, not finished but with head attached, looks good. HTH.
I thought the same thing when I was making my doll. I didn't order a kit but followed the measurements given in the Dancing Rain doll pattern and the head came out perfectly in the end. There is a pic in the Waldorf Doll Pic thread if you want to see the scale.
I think you'll be fine, but if you're VERY nervous about it, the stuff to make one should be in the kit. I ordered pre-made heads with the kits, and the gauze and twine were in the little package with the needles.
