I'm working on a reversible cabled scarf. Its 6" wide and quick thickly knit. I'm at 30" and wondering if I should go longer than 60".

Mom of a 7 yr old, 4 yr old, and 1 yr old. Wow. How did that happen?

That is a dangerous question to ask me after the huge scarf I am making....but, I voted 60-70". Thats about the size of most of the ones I use. I like them to be big enough to wrap around my neck and then hang down a little bit.

I think it depends on the recipient. A scarf is an accessory and should fit the person accordingly.Too long of a scarf on a shorter person looks, well too long, unless you wrap a couple times around the neck and then it looks like the scarf is trying to strangle you.

I'll go back to knitting under my rock now.

I like 6' or longer for most adults. I like extra long scarves though and I make them at least 7' long.:

My retail scarfs are about as long as I am tall, so that makes them about 60". : yes I'm short.

I read somewhere (can't quite remember where) that a scarf should be as long as the person wearing it. Something about the way it would fit or something. I don't remember, I just remember that it made me never want to do a scarf. The one I am doing though I'm going to just go until I run out of yarn since I only have this one ball, that's all I can use.

I've been making mine the height of the person wearing it. So for most adults it's 60+

I like them to be shorter than me. So 50-60 inches.
