I knit an entrelac scarf following Knitty's Danica pattern but used a self-striping yarn. The color changes in my yarn were not subtle, which leads me to question if this scarf should be given as a gift (to my MIL). I know my MIL will love it regardless, but I don't like giving something that just looks thrown together.

Of course I'm most critical of my knitting, so I wanted to get honest feedback on this item. PLEASE give honest opinions -- DH and a friend both think it's nice and looks good and that they wouldn't notice the color issues if I didn't point it out, but I'm still hesitant.

Onto the pics:

ETA - I just finished up this entrelac scarf in Noro Silk Garden, and I love the way this one came out with the subtle color changes. Thought I'd share!

I'm with you on this one. The colour changes are at the wrong time on a few "squares" but I don't think it would be at all noticeable on a scarf being worn.

I'm just about to start a headband in entrelac and now have to reconsider the yarn I was going to use for that - the colour changes might also be too subtle.

I've always loved the way entrelac looks with a self striping yarn, and you're right, the color changes aren't subtle, but I totally dig the woven look of it. If you're on ravelry, have you seen how many people have done danica in a self striping yarn? There's more than a hundred I swear. I think it would make a beautiful gift.

Thank you for the nice comments. I find it hard not to notice the errors in my own knitting, but I'm not sure that a non-knitter would notice them or even consider them errors. Due to how close I am to Christmas, I am going to go ahead and wrap the darn thing and stop second guessing myself.

I did start another entrelac scarf in Noro Silk Garden which has subtle color changes, and I really like how the subtle changes look much better. Friendtoall - if you have a yarn with color changes similar to Noro, you'll love how it turns out. I've also seen quite a few entrelac pieces done with Patons SWS that look great to me. Maybe it is partially due to them being someone else's FO though.

Anyway, I appreciate the encouragement. Getting wrapped tonight.

I think it is beautifull. I do not think the "errors" will be seen when being worn.

I like both of them. I was thinking of doing Quant, but maybe I'll do Danica instead as my first entrelac...Off to Ravelry to check it out!
