I'm making stockings for my kids and would like to embroider their names on the cuffs. I have done very small amounts of embroidery.

Is there a certain stich that is best? Can I use standard embroidery thread on wool felt?

Any other tips?
thanks in advance

The stitch you use will depend on the look you're going for. I've seen them in a running stitch (which has gaps), and it's cute, but I've also seen them in backstitch (which has no gaps), and those are also cute. You can also do them in outline stitch, chain stitch, split stitch, or stem stitch.

And yes, embroidery thread on felt is just fine.

Here is a tutorial about sewing names on felt. Maybe it'll help with some tips for you? Good luck!
