A sweet little bag for my sweet little gal.I made it from a skirt that came from my mom and a jersey sheet that belonged to my sister.Actually now that I think about it the button is re-purposed too.
I'm always searching for re-purposing ideas if you want to share anything you've done!
Last week I made a wrap skirt for myself out of a bedspread. It was my first so I didn't expect much but it came out beautifully. I'm definitely going to do more skirts when I have time.
Have you checked out craftster.org ? They have a whole forum dedicated to this. Very inspiring.
I love to repourpose things as well. I am really getting into it. But I don't have anything I've made specifically yet, execept those tshirt grocery bags. But one little thing I do is I use the carboard from cereal boxes to make stiffer pattern pieces for whatever I need. I like something stiffer. Right now I'm working on some felt food cuz I'm a total follower
So I used a pizza box and now a cereal box to make my pattern pieces.
Not that long ago I reused old flannelette recieving blankets, old t-shirts, and old boxers to make some mama pads and family cloth.
My next project is to make some aprons. My mom had given me a bunch of old fabric and one stash is a beautiful cobalt blue design, kind of like tapestry.
Okay, so I think I'm going to tackle the mailbox. I've been working on it in my head of course. I got some grey felt. I think I'm going to sew on some interfacing to add stiffness. I have it all worked out in my head, we'll see how well it comes to life. As soon as I get to it I will post pictures. I can't promise this weekend cuz I have other projects. But I am going to try cuz I can't stop thinking about it now!

Just wanted to let you know this is going to be put on hold for a short bit. I have mastitis and it sucks. As well as I have a gift to sew for my friend. I will get to it though. I continue to think about it. I don't think it will be that difficult. But we'll see...

Uhg!I hope you feel better soon!No one here expects you to whip any projects out.Healthy boobies come before felt mailboxes.
Oh Jamie, that sucks. I hope you feel better soon.
I have been thinking about that mail box since the last time someone posted it (was it you then too Rere?)! I can't wait to see it when you are up to it Jamie.
Rere, you things are all so lovely! I love the bag. What kind of fabric is it? Also... Was it hard to sew the tee shirts for the quilt?
I made a bag for myself in college out of an old 70's bathrobe. It was so ugly as a bathrobe... oranges and yellows tropical sunset... mmmm sexy. I used the belt as the strap and left the pockets on both sides. I took a button of a big chunky 80's sweater to secure the fold over top. I got a lot of complements on that bag! I used it so much I wore it out
This post makes me want to try making more now that I have a sewing machine in the house.
I have to stay out of craftster. There are so many awesome ideas I get overwhelmed.

Thank you!
Of coarse you have been thinking about that felt mailbox...you are the felt master!
The bag is made out of a cotton skirt but it's really thick like canvas and the inside was a jersey sheet.
The tshirts for the quilt were a little challenging because of the stretch but it was one of the first things I made.I wasn't quite ready for all that stretch.
I love the sounds of your sexy(
) robe bag!And I can't wait to see what you come up with now that you have a machine!
Craftster makes me insane. My brain spins.
I've got my eye on an old table cloth that I want to make another bag out of but I really don't have anyone to give it to.Plus I have the other half of the skirt that I made my daughter's bag out of.Etsy?Hmmm?I don't know? What do you mamas think?
