I have experience making pul pockets, wp pockets and hemp fitteds but I've never made covers of any sort. I would like to try wool covers either sewn with wool fabric or knit with wool yarn. Is Ebay a good place to find wool? What do I look for in the fabric and the yarn? Does alpaca yarn work the same as sheep wool?
in my opinion, its best to get it from thrift store, recycled sweater make great wool soakers. they are cheap too. as for the different kind of wool, i am still learning, i've felted a sweater (52% wool and 48% acrylic) and going to make it into a cover. i hv 100% wool stuff but they are too scratchy to make covers, i hv pure virgin wool stuff and they are nice and soft and will be turned into wrap style covers.
i dont think ebay is the best place to start but that is just me.
I have used thrift store wool successfully. Some can be scratchy, but keep looking, I've found some soft stuff too. Can't beat 100% wool for $2.
