DS#4 actually spends some time in his crib, so I though I'd make it less ugly and put a skirt on it. My sewing skills end at my 7th grade home-ec class from the 70's, but I'm eager to try (once I buy a sewing machine...).

Is sewing a crib skirt easy? or could I use curtains and cut/trim to make something fit? I'm not into the 'dust ruffle' look - just want something to add color and hide the drawer under the crib.

very easy to make, especially if you have a ruffler attachment. They are fantastic and worth their weight in gold! Otherwise, you could always make one with a box pleat. I think you can even find a pattern on how to make one.
