pumabearclan, thanks for reminding me. So far I've brought four dresses to sewing class: lengthened two of mine (added material to the bottom), reinforced pockets in one of my denim jumpers (they kept ripping: often when I stand somewhere with a drawer handle, like when I wash the dishes, and I turn away, part of my dress is still there because the pocket caught on the handle), and my current project is adding a piece to make the neckline of my daughter's dress higher, because when I bought it from the consignment shop and she tried it on it showed a lot of her chest. This way it'll still fit, it won't be too tight for her to wear around her neck, and it'll be modest. All of those dresses were bought for less than $5 each and it doesn't cost much to alter them.
