I am starting to chart my cycle, and am reading Taking Charge of your fertility,
My questio and problem is how can I get an accurate temp. when DS often wakes around 5am still (I just go to him and go back to bed for an hour or so), I don't feel I can wait to go to him until I've taken me temp, by them both him and me would be thoroughly awake, I don't think it is fair to ask DH to get up every time,
The book says you need 3 hours of consecutive sleep, but I don't see how I can do this,
Help please

I think you have 2 options. You can take your temp on the way to your dc, or you can wait and take it in an hour or 2 when you are up for the day. Personally, I've been obsessive about taking my temp to see how much it changes from waking to pee at night, to waking an hour or 2 later in the AM, to what the difference is when I get out of bed. (its been like a science experiment :LOL ) And I've found that for me, its OK to take the temp as I'm moving around a little- it doesn't raise it that much for me, and I can still tell when I O. So if it were me, I'd take the temp as you get up with dc, stick the thermometer in your mouth on the way to his room, and record it before you go back to sleep.

However, it is best to relie strongly on your CM when you are just a little erradic in your temp times. Good luck!

well, I would just pop the thermometer in my mouth on the way to get him. I am like OTMomma, I have been taking my temps at various times to see what works best.

Thank you, I will try doing it while i get up with him,
The last few days I took it about an hour after i got up with him( I went back to sleep) and it is about 97.7 so that seems kind of normal,
I have asked DH to stick the therm. in my mouth when he gets up EARLY for work and write my temp down for me, but I know it will take a while for him to remember to do it :LOL ,

Hey, you can get thermometers with a memory. My digital one keeps the temp until youtake your temp again. Or if you use a mercury thermometer it will not go down until you shake it. Another temp option is to take it at the same time in the evening, but this will not show your temps as early.
