Hello all!

This site was so helpful in helping me find my midwife (Kay and Janet over at AWS) so I knew it would be the place to go for a pediatrician!

With just 4 weeks to go we need to try and find a pediatrician... do you all have any recommendations? We live/work intow so anywhere in metro Atlanta would be great.

Ideally we're looking for someone who is open to the idea of no vaccines/natural lifestyle, but most importantly who is willing to have a conversation with us about them. I want to make sure that we can have conversations with our pediatrician discussing pros and cons of each option.

Wish we lived closer to north fulton as we have loved everything about that hospital, but hopefully we can find someone closer in a good group.

Any guidance would be wonderful!!!

Try Dr. Sells at Intown Pediatrics. She's in Glenwood Park (between Grant Park and East Atlanta). She's awesome.

SAHM mom to 3 wonderful kids!

Dr. Marion Owen in Decatur. She's a family practitioner and is GREAT with babies. She actually prefers to delay vaccinations--she doesn't like to do MMR before age 3, for example--and she's the only "regular" doctor I've found that I feel comfortable actually talking with about my choices instead of just telling them what I do and ignoring their advice.

We started with Dr. Sells, and I loved her for a while, but she lectured me a few times and I got tired of it. She was willing to go with my vax schedule, but she didn't seem happy about it, ya know?

Mama to DD, my 2/24/08 BIG KID formerly known as sling baby, and DS, my 12/23/11 train-loving, wall-climbing toddler!

We love Dr. Carol Herrmann in Decatur. We switched to her when DD was about 18 mo. She didn't bat an eye when we told her we delay/select vax, co-sleep, BF still (a lot), are vegetarian, etc. She took a lot of time with us, was fantastic with DD, passed along some new research... I have never liked a ped so much!

<=== What she said

Also I saw Dr. Abrams in for a bit (Dr. Owen had a wait list) he's way up in Norcross but is also amazing. He was the first doctor to actually discuss different vax options and was honest about what he thought was most important and what he would wait on or not do at all.

Dr. Owen is still not accepting new patients... i'd love to go to Dr. Herrmann but she does not take Blue Cross Blue Shield. Anyone know of a few others near Decatur who approach medicine in an integrative manner (meaning combo of traditional and holistic)? My son is uncirc'ed and I'd like someone who won't be shocked. :)

THANKS MAMAS!! <3

ilse, happy mama to Emma and Max
