My husband might accept a job in Montgomery and I'm trying to find like-minded folks in the area. Just a little background, I'm from Maryland, lived in DC area for 7 years, now in CT for the past 3 years. We are an inter-racial attachment parenting, bedsharing, full term breastfeeding, cloth diapering, intact, natural birthing, chiropractic committed family. We are also both very progressive and outspoken about it. I'm a SAHM. I've emailed leaders of La Leche, Attachment Parenting International (which the closest chapter is 3 hours away), plus Amnesty Int'l and ACLU (although I doubt I'll find SAHM friends there, but you never know). Husband is really excited about this job and it would be a really wonderful career decision for him, but I'm so nervous. I'm extremely disheartened to discover that midwives can't do home births and that there's no birthing center in the entire state. I really wanted that with our next child (not pregnant, just planning ahead). Tell me where else to look to meet people!!!
Alabama-Moms.com is a good resource for meeting like minded moms. There are quite a few in the Montgomery area.
I'm not in that area myself, I live a bit further north.
Oh and you can do homebirth in the state, I've had 2 and am planning my third.
Its just that homebirth midwives aren't licensed.
