The backup OB for my midwife does not take my insurance so they are sending me to Mahec for our anatomy scan. They said it's "high tech" and I shouldn't have to go back for a follow up if they cannot see anything b/c w/ their high tech machine, it'll see everything the first time.

Anyone been there that can tell me what exactly high tech means in this case? Should I expect to have to deal with a lot of extra stuff or does they mean it's 3d or something?

(I don't need a lecture about ultrasounds, either so please don't reply with that. )

I had my baby with the Mahec midwives and my ultrasound there, too. It wasn't 3-D, but it is connected to a big computer that allows the tech to take measurements of baby's head and pockets of amniotic fluid. That's about all I can tell you about it! Oh, I did have to wait a loooong time for my appt. - I think it was about an hr. So, be prepared, they usually run late due to emergency scans.

Thanks! I was supposed to have my ultrasound this week, but they must be really booked up b/c the receptionist at the midwives said they have to put me on the January schedule which they haven't started, yet. Oh joy! heh

Are they good about you seeing the ultrasound a little bit?

I spent my entire pregnancy with MAHEC midwives. Yes, you will see and watch everything they do. In fact, if it's the "anatomy scan" this one is the longest ultrasound you'll receive during your pregnancy. It's soooo much fun. You'll get to see all the parts of your little one and they will explain everything they are looking at and you'll get lots of pics if you ask for them. They do also have the 3D, I didn't want it though since I wanted at least some surprise of how DS looked. Many blessings to you in the coming months!

Thank you! We had our ultrasound last week and it went really well. It was just a 2d, but she explained everything (first for me) and it was really nice other than a very uncooperative, active baby! hehe I think she got all the shots she needed, but not sure.
