I am looking for an affordable but good preschool in the asheville area for the fall of this year. Based on what I have found online I think I can only afford two days a week. I am just having a hard time sorting it all out.

Info that might be helpful: My daughter is 4. We live on the biltmore house side of town. I am not opposed to small programs such as something being run out of another mothers home. We are not religious so I'd like to avoid faith based programs. My main goals for her our socilization, becoming familiar with taking instructions from other adults, and adjusting to seperation from me.

TIA

Maybe Grow with me? The asheville waldorf group? They have a yahoo group where you can look them up.

You could look up Friends of Mine Preschool Co-op. It is a co-op so some trade work is required. I believe they are on the north side of town near the unitarian church.

Well, a few suggestions I have are...Free To Be Me, in East Asheville. They are in the Haw Creek area, really nice. I'm not sure about the rates though... maybe they have a website.
Also, I have had good experiences at the YMCA, I worked there for several years and they do a Mommies Morning Out program.. ( they also have one on the south side, near Long Shoals. ) They have a well trained staff and possibly financial aid.
My kids went to Rainbow Mountain Children's School for preschool. I know it is expensive, but they really were the best we found, ( as far as what kind of environment we were ideally looking for, for our youngest) and they offer scholarships. The office staff is really helpful as well.

So that's my two cents! Good luck!

Asheville Arts Center has a preschool program. They are not outrageously expensive, and they do great stuff with the kids.

I'm hearing great things about Casa de Bambini in West Asheville, but they have no website and I plan on going to check it out first hand.

My son goes to Arden Prebyterian 3x a week for the exact reasons you stated....socializing, learning from other adults etc..
it is extrememly affordable and only goes from 9 til noon...
they are faith based but, honestly I am SOOOOO not but i figure, what the heck???, they really do NOT cram it on the kids, they mention it once in a blue moon- like more around easter, but not even daily, so i really think- thats cool he can hear another viewpoint that he wont get from home....
he loves it and the education is awesome- lots of fun fun learning stuff.
the hours, price and fun the kids were having when i visited are really what sold me on it.....
