I'm 29 weeks preg. with our 3rd and up til now just assumed I would have to endure my 3rd c-sec. But I've had some real concerns about it and am researching and seriously considering a VBA2C but don't have a clue who might be willing to support me in that, professionally speaking - either OB or midwife.

It's the weekend and I can't contact my current group but at my last visit with the NP (I've only met two of the docs, one time each, for about 5 min. total ) I posed the question and she didn't seem real postitive that that was kosher with them. She kept talking about the safety of mom and baby in relation to another c-sec vs. VBA2C - the C being safer. So I'm not feeling I'm going to get far with this group in trying to figure all this out.

I'd like to know if anyone out there knows of an OB (single or group) or midwife that would support my wish to VBA2C in the Wilmington area.

Thanks!

If you want a hospital VBAC, I suppose I would try Coastal out of New Hanover. They were the only people who wanted to "let" me VBAC with twins in the area. They're mostly residents though and although I DID VBAC successfully (accidentally out of the hospital), I didn't have the best experience ever. You can PM me if you want.

Minions...I've got minions. Sheepish.gifblahblah.gifangel2.gifkid.gif  And dogs.

I will second Coastal OB out of New Hanover hospital- I'm pregnant with twins and they said I could VBAC (well until they learned my incision is an upside-down T)

my step-mom went to dr laif lofgren in wilm.... she said he was really hands-off during her delivery and let her have a completely all-natural birth in the hospital. he doesn't take very many patients at one time, as he works solo (i think). but anyway, she really likes him and always recommends him. she said that he told her a mom's instinct is almost always right. he trusts what the mom wants to do...and he also said that the older he gets, the more he is just an 'old hippy doc'....sounded good to me!

I second Laif Lofgren if you want an ob vs. midwife. He is amazing and I suspect he actually is a midwife, he just doesn't know it yet. If you are looking for a certified nurse midwife, then I hightly recommend Mary McBride. She practices on her own in the same building as Dr. Lofgren. They both worked with me when I was pregnant with my twins. Mary delivered my daughter. She is a pregnant woman's dream come true, in my opinion. The name of her office just changed, but I think that it is University Healthcare. I know it is located next to the Medical Mall by the hospital. Good luck.

I third the recommendation for Dr Lofgren. I had my first dd with him and he is GREAT. I also went to him throughout my second pregnancy, but I chose to birth at home. Then when I went to him for the 6wk check, I told him all about it. He didn't even bat an eye. He's one of very few OB's who trust the mother's body to do the job it's built for. There is a great homebirth MW there, but it may be too late to get in with her, even if you wanted to.

mom to 2 wonderful girls born 11/05 and 10/08
