I heard tonight that because of the regulations the Charleston birth place is under, they can not help women who have had 6 or more pregnancies.

I was wondering if this is true and if anyone has any experience with that? If a woman is pregnant for the 6th time, is she not allowed to birth with the midwives at charleston birth place?

I'm sorry if I put this in the wrong spot... I wasn't sure...

By six pregnancies, do they mean 6 PREVIOUS pregnancies so the 7th is out but the sixth child can still be at the birth center, or does it mean FIVE previous pregnancies and the 6th is risked out?

That rule is so very, very stupid that I think you might be justified in elliding your medical history in order not to be risked out. You wouldn't want to get the midwives in trouble, obviously - but if their records consistently state that this is your fifth pregnancy and you never sue them, what harm?

Is there a similar rule for homebirth?

No there are no restrictions on home birth midwives in SC, as there are on the birth center midwives.  Odd, but good for my practice :)
