The SC Health Dept site says that I have to say that I am part of a "recognized" religion in order to get the health department form. What does that mean? Has anyone else received an exemption from SC lately?

I'm not in SC, I'm in NC like you, but I would just pick a religon and get my paper, if they need me to be a christian or whatever so that my children don't get vaccinated, I can do that, the system is too limited to have a philosophical exemption for me, so I have to use whatever is closest.

here in NC, my hubby and I simply wrote, 'we believe vaccines to be against god's laws' - which we do, and signed it.

If you want more info about SC vax exemption's check this site;

when you go to your local health dept. office, they can not and will not ask you what religion you are. if anyone does you can say "my spirituality is none of your business" in a sweet voice. all you need to do is request the form, then a nurse will sit down with you and give you a brief spiel, you will politely listen, and then you sign a book that you received a form and you're good to go. just ignore any attitude if you get any.

I received my form from the local health department, no problem. No questions were asked concerning any specific (or general) religious beliefs. I just signed it, had it notarized, and gave it to our private preschool and the public elementary school in lieu of vaccination records.

I had no issues whatsoever.

I was asked what religion I practiced, I lied, and it was not pursued. I told them I was a Christian Scientist. I actually researched it on the Net beforehand so I could answer any (illegal, unethical, nosey) questions and avoid a conflict, but they did not ask any.
