I'm new to the area and wondering who can give a good opinion of the birth culture in Concord NC? I understand there used to be midwives but I cannot get a straight answer as to what happened to them and if they will be coming back.
Is there anyone who has had a baby at Northeast who can give an opinion of the facility? What is the culture like?
I live right outside of Concord, in Mt.Pleasant. I actually lived in Concord for the past two years until we moved out here to the country. I haven't had a baby at Northeast, but I did my clinical there in nursing school, and I've heard from a lot of people who have delivered there. If I can be honest with you, I wouldn't have my baby there. Hospitals in this area aren't very natural childbirth friendly. The birth culture in this area is rather bad. There are midwives in this area (CPM's) if you ask around, you'll be able to find one if you want a homebirth. If you want a birth center birth, you'll have to drive to Fort Mill, SC (Carolina Community Maternity Center) or Statesville (Natural Beginnings Birth Center). My daughter was born in Fort Mill back in 2010 and it was a wonderful experience. I am currently expecting my 3rd child and can't figure out what to do because I have BCBS and they are being awful about approving any place because apparently only hospitals are in-network and I don't want to go that route. This is so upsetting to me.
There is a group of midwives that delivers at Lake Norman Regional and I think some that deliver at CMC-Pineville. Those would be better choices (in my opinion) than CMC Northeast.
