Someone was telling me about a group of moms who would alternate and go around to each others houses to help clean. So if there were 8 members, every 8 weeks the tribe would come to your house to cook, clean, and care for children together. You would also contribute to help at the other members' houses. Has anyone ever participated in a group like that? Is this idea something that interests you?

This could also include babysitting trades.

I had a friend who had a set-up like this when she was a young mom in Louisiana. Every morning, the neighborhood moms would send their kids off to school, then gather at one house to have coffee and clean -- different house every day. Of course, this would have been in the 70s. :/ I haven't heard of anything like it for our generation. I think it would be awesome, but my neighborhood is all retirees and working parents.

Michelle, wife to DH, and momma to DD16, DS15, DS12, DS10, DD9, DD7, DS5, and baby girl born Christmas Eve 2013!

Never heard of it, but what a great idea! Are you in WNC by any chance?

This is such a brilliant idea - especially for those of us who don't have immediate family nearby.

I think it's a great idea!  There is something similar in the Maryland/DC area on the meetup website (http://www.meetup.com/Natural-Mamas-in-Silver-Spring-Working-Together-Communally/).  I only found out about it right before I moved away from the area, otherwise I would have joined.  I wish it were more widespread.

I LOVE their description! Sounds very close to what I am envisioning.
