I am brand new to this community--I was on Babycenter before but this looks more like the type of community I need :)

I had a home birth last September, and loved my midwives, Peggy and Kim at Birth By Design. We live in Stafford now, so they would come to my home for a birth where I live now, but we are thinking of moving further south toward Richmond, since that's where my husband works. I'm having a hard time finding a midwife that serves Fredericksburg!!! (So it'll be easy enough to access whether I live here or somewhere south of Stafford.

Thanks!

Welcome to MDC! I just thought I'd bump your post up. smile.gif

Anyone have a recommendation for a midwife in this area?

I would recommend a thorough look into Lori's history.

Not super close, but we used Tammi Mckinley in Arlington and love her dearly.

Hi!  Have you found a midwife?  Peggy Franklin, who was with me while I birthed my son, came to me highly recommended and I recommend her too!  You can find her at http://www.birthbydesign.org/

Wait, I just reread your post more carefully and see you know Peggy!  And you may be moving as far as Richmond.

You might find the NOVA homebirth yahoogroup a helpful a helpful resource.  http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NoVahomebirth/

Best wishes!

Michele, mom of DD 5/01, DD 11/03, and DS 11/06

I'm late to the conversation, but Peggy Franklin came to Caroline County (just south of Spotsylvania) for both of my births.  I would call them at NOVA birth center first thing, and if they won't come to your new home, ask them who will.  They know all the good midwives!
