Hi to all,

My husband and I are TTC and I've been researching natural birthing options in the Shenandoah Valley, specifically near Harrisonburg. Has anyone had any experience with Brookhaven Birth Center in Harrisonburg? I am also curious about the CNMs with Shenandoah Women's Healthcare but have some qualms about giving birth in a hospital (RMH). Any thoughts from moms who've used these providers would be appreciated!

I am located in lynchburg va, but I wanted to share with you. I had a hard labor with my first son in 2005, ending with a c section, I knew that there had to be a better way to do things an was introduced to hypnobirthing please look into it, I had a successful v bac in 2010 with my son, but all that aside hypnobirthing gave me the tools needed to feel confident in my body helping me to achive a drug free birth and bonding experience with my baby during labor and receiving and also bonded my husband and myself even closer and on a higher level than we had ever been during our 7 yrs together, including the birth of our first son. Just wanted to share I wish someone had shared this info with me the first time I was expecting.

I know of an awesome midwife in Roanoke. I'm not sure how far that is from you though.

Thanks for the responses! I' ve since heard some good and not so good experiences at Brookhaven. I really like the local CNM group but they only deliver in the local hospital. There's also another birth center that doesn't have much publicity because mostly old-order Mennonites use it, but I learned that the CNM practice (that also has several doctors) formally backs them in case of transfer. Hope this helps someone!
