that is funny! i didn't go to our appt anyway. dd is healthy and i'm still doing research on vaxing---my semi-informed position as of now is: no way in hell! so i just didn't and don't feel like discussing it with Jackie or any mainstreamish person right now. whatever the case she is very sweet and gentle with our LO.

BTW we randomly passed by Dr Ryland's office today cause our friend lives near by and i ducked in the consignment shop. its nice to know there's a holistic ped in town even if we can't afford his services.

I have heard Dr. Rydland speak, and he has a lot of his own herbal medicines that he markets at the local health food stores. A friend of mine uses him and likes him a lot. He doesn't take insurance, though. He seemed very knowledgable. I think I heard him talk about vaccines at the Holistic Moms meeting last year...can't remember exactly.

Dr. Gelburd told me that 2/3 of his patients are on selective/delayed/no vax schedules and is totally fine with that. I've never felt pressured in the least. When I asked him what he recommended, he did recommend DTaP because of the pertussis risk around here, but he said we could wait on most everything else and not even do some of them at all. He's also recommended homeopathy and given me some preparations right there in the office. He will also be a "regular" ped. if that's what people want.
