Was wondering if anyone knows if pregnancy is considered a pre-existing condition on bcbs community blue?

Married to my best friend for 9 years. Loving being at home with my busy boy. Praying for a vbac.gif next time around!

I think that the laws have recently shifted with healthcare legislation. Is it employer-based insurance? Do you have other insurance now and are just switching?

I don't think it will be a problem, here is how it went for us:

June 2005 : Hubby graduates college, we find out I'm pregnant
July 2005: Apply for medicaid to cover pregnancy
October 2005: Hubby gets job that has Bbcbsmi
November 2005: Insurance goes into effect

What happened then was that they would bill blue cross first and anything that was left was billed to medicaid. I didn't have any problems with them covering the pregnancy.

I actually have bcbs, but it's an individual plan. We'll be switching to my husband's employer-based bcbs, but not for a couple months. I can't imagine it would be a problem, right?

If you already have BCBS and are switching I would just try to make sure there isn't a lapse in coverage. I don't imagine it would be a problem I'm sorry that it's causing extra stress Can you call the insurance company to verify?

I think you are fine. We picked up a BCBS individual policy and there was a 6 month wait on coverage for pregnancy. From what I understood at the time, pregnancy would be covered if it was a group policy.
