Hi,

We're moving to Columbus, Ohio this summer and I need to find part-time daycare for my 18 month old and after-school care for my kindergartener.

Does anyone know of any childcare centers or nannies or in-home providers they'd recommend?

Thank you!

I know of a lady that is awesome but she is kinda expensive. What price are you looking for?

Well, if it's a nanny, I really have no idea what the going rate is but I was thinking about $12 or maybe $15/hour if she's willing to do a little light housework like load the dishwasher or fold laundry. But again, I have no idea what's reasonable so I could really far off base here. We pay over $1,000 a month for full-time preschool so I'm sure anything we find will be less than that right?! :)

Gosh, I wish I still lived in Columbus! I'd be your nanny. haha. I live an hour north in Mansfield and do private nannying... if we're talking hourly... right now I make less than $5. But I know it's a little different outside of the city. :)

I think you can find someone awesome for the rate you're willing to pay. :) Sorry I'm not actually helpful. ;) Good luck! :)

$5 an hour?!! Wow. That's REALLY low. Here in Madison, the going rate for college students to babysit is about $13/hour so that's where I got my estimate. I met a lady at the playground a few days ago who was nannying for an 18-month old and she makes $9.00/hour but I live more out in the country right now. She said she used to get $12.75/hour for 3 kids. So I figured $12.00/hour for 2 kids is reasonable for someone with a lot of experience. This lady seemed kind of old to be a nanny so I'm willing to pay a bit more for someone with more energy. (And I have nothing against older people but this woman was moving really slowly and there's no way she would have been able to keep up with my toddler).
