My husband is getting a new job in south bend indiana. we will be moving 1 month before my "guess" date. I am freaking out. I had a nice home birth planned here in NYC Can someone please help point me to resources of midwives in the area as well as any crunchy moms groups I should know about?

Also my daughter (2.5) is special needs and In early intervention and was going to be in a special ed preschool next year I would love to hear form moms who have experience in this area and can help me out when it comes to EI etc.

You might want to let Laura know that several parts of her web page aren't working. Clicking on stats, and other buttons keeps returning to the home page or info about Laura.

You can also check out www.michianabirth.blogspot.com and they are on facebook Michiana Birth.  Good luck and feel free to contact me if you need any other resources.  There is also a Holistic Mom's group in South Bend, a cloth diapering group that meets up, LLL that meet each Tuesday.

I don't know if you're still looking for help with this, but thought I'd pass along another potential option for you.

The Goshen Birth Center is not a home birth, but they have been wonderful and may be a good compromise option for you if you can't work out your homebirth.

www.goshenbirthcenter.com

They may also be able to refer you to some other home birth midwives.

Happy birthing!

I would look up Peaceful Beginnings Midwifery Service on Facebook.  That's another local midwife.  You could also contact our local La Leche League for ideas and resources -- I attend their meetings and the lactation consultants are fantastic and full of knowledge!  There's also a woman named Stephanie Price who is a midwife's assistant, doula, and student nurse.  She could also be of great help and support to you if you're interested! I highly recommend her.
