I am new to the forum and looking for assistance for a home birth in NE Ohio.
I live in Canton and ideally, would like to birth at home. But I am willing to drive up to an hour.
Can anyone recommend a midwife in the area?
Welcome to Mothering! I hope you get some suggestions here, but you might get some more general help and resources about finding midwives in our homebirth forum: http://www.mothering.com/community/f/20/homebirth
Hopefully that will help if no one has a specific suggestion.
There is a Facebook group "Home Birth Options of Cleveland" and also "The Breastfeeding Center, LLC" that you should follow. TBC is located in Uniontown and has a lot of mamas who I believe would be able to help you. I am also in the area considering HB for my 2nd (not pregnant...yet)
I recommend San Hess 330-231-5945 or Pam Kolanz 440-543-5353. both sweet, wonderful, experienced midwives. Younger midwives may have better web pages, but these women definitely have the touch & knowledge you need for a safe homebirth.
What are the hospital transfer options out there like? Where I live now, we're 20 minutes from a teaching hospital with a (so far this year) 93% VBAC success rate.
