I hope this is the right place...

I have a 2 1/2 week old DD who I am struggling to breastfeed. She has a posterior tongue tie as well as a labial lip tie (the upper lip is tightly tied to between where her 2 front teeth would be) that is causing us great difficulty in nursing. My supply is low from her lack of ability to transfer milk (she's getting .5 oz usually per feeding) and I'm finding that I will need to come to terms with supplementation, at least until we get her tongue tie fixed. I've been struggling through it and avoiding supplement or giving very small amounts of formula when I obviously need to but I really don't want to continue giving her formula. I don't need to supplement every feed (which shows me I DO have milk) but I do need to supplement a few feedings a day.

Are there any local mamas (I'm in Glen Burnie and very willing to travel) who may be able to help me? I don't know how much I'll need or for how long but will appreciate any amount offered. The more breastmilk she gets (Even if it's not mine) means less (or no!) formula.

Thank you in advance!

Check out MilkShare

They host a yahoo group to connect mamas that want to donate milk with mamas/babies in need. It's an amazing site ... so many mamas offering their precious milk Good luck!!

Bumping this up! We are now EPing and I could really use some donor milk to pick up where my supply is low... I'm not quite keeping up with her intake just yet!

Bumping this up again! I've recieved a lot of donations from various mom's (thank you to here and milkshare!!!) but am still in need of more. She's taking about 110 oz more a week than I'm pumping and I'm hoping to keep her on EBM as long as possible. Hoping to make it to 6 months and then replace with nutritent rich solids instead of formula. Everyone has been so gracious about donation, I can't believe how lucky I've been!

If anyone in MD is interested/able/willing to be a long term donor for my DD, we would be forever grateful! I've posted a picture of her (taken today!) so that you ladies can see the adorable llittle girl that is benefiting from your generous donations of such an amazing and perfect food!

When did the doctor say they could fix her tongue tie? I had a LLL leader who had to have it done for her son and she said it was a pretty quick procedure.

Still feeding my twins at 13 months now, so I don't have milk to share. Actually at work and pumping as we speak! But I'm so moved by your request. What a great mom! Hope you get some more milk soon!

If you're willing, I have an Ameda manual pump that I'd gladly give away in exchange for milk! It' brand new... I ended up with a second one when DD got sick and was in the hospital at 3 weeks old. I would offer to loan out my Ameda electric but I'm so afraid I may never see it again, lol!

I'll PM you!

Oh yes! She had her tongue tie fixed at 5 1/2 weeks old.

The problem is my supply. I have very low supply (2 oz on a good feed) and it doesn't keep her satisfied on the breast.

We were nursing with a lact-aid SNS but the stress and struggle of getting her latched properly AND getting the tube in her mouth was too much for us both. She started to really get mad at the breast so I went back to bottles. Now she'll nurse just fine as long as she's not super hungry. But I don't have enough milk for her. Even with the SNS, she was taking 4 oz in supplement (she takes 6 oz bottles).

I think if I had the supply, I could get her back to the breast FT. But I wanted to preserve what little nursing relationship we had left so I stopped pushing the SNS. She wouldn't come any where near the breast for a bit there and once we had a day of bottles with no SNS, she was perfectly happy to nurse.

Great! What are you doing to increase your supply?

I've been bad about that lately but now that we've gotten her back to the breast with the SNS, I'm going to work harder at it.

My plan is domperidone, more milk special blend, additional fenugreek, pumping in between feeds and nursing, nursing, nursing.

I don't have any milk yet (31 weeks!), but as another low-supply mama, I feel your pain. Consider your thread bumped.

Thanks mama!

A shameless bump... We are always in need of donors and will travel to DE, PA, VA, WVA... Even NY if the amount is worth the drive.

A new pic of my Bella... She's gained 3lbs since 4 weeks old (she was 7lbs 7oz at that visit, **** under birth weight and is now 10lbs 8oz) and 3 inches in length (was 21 inches at 4 weeks, now she's 24 or 24.5 in).

What a great mama! I wish I could help out, but I am currently WOH pt and use the milk I pump for that. I've been actually having trouble keeping up with her the last few days... Congrats on the new little one and good for you for sticking it out. What a lucky baby! I'm glad you were able to find some other mamas.
