I was wondering if there are any places around here (Im in Laurel but will drive a good distance) to buy bulk organic and natural foods. Im wanting sugar and flour as well as herbs, beans, spices, nuts, etc

Also there was a post last year about community funded organic farming program (I forget the name ) and a link to that would be awesome!

TIA

I just go to My Organic Market in Jessup and have their grocery buyer place a bulk order for me. I just got 150lbs of wheat berries, 2 cases of brown sugar and 100lbs of white flour from them. Ordering bulk online meant massive shipping costs. By going through MOMs I save that plus help a small local business.

Our Health Concern in Towson has a bulk food section with standard health food store type prices. They sell bulk herbs but I find their pricing confusing - the more you buy the lower the cost but it is hard to figure out.

Smile Herb Shop in College Park sells herbs - many organic and offers online purchasing but I found their average price to be $2.90/ounce - way beyond my budget for my homemade soapmaking.

My Organic Market aka Mom's in Jessup is awesome, and has a great bulk selection. (7351 Assateague Dr. #190, Jessup MD. 20794)

You might also check out David's Natural Market (5430 Lynx Lane, Columbia, MD 21044) and Laurel Health Foods (131 Bowie Rd., Laurel, MD 20707.)
