There's a guy in our church who is in need of a bone marrow transplant and, in honor of him, I'm organizing a bone marrow drive for next Sunday with Be the Match (http://www.marrow.org/
The process of registering is quick and painless. You fill out some paperwork, go over a health history (totally private) with the Be the Match rep, then it's just a cheek swab. If you, at some point, match with a recipient you will be contacted for further testing. You have to be willing to donate to anyone because it's confidential and double blind (like organ donation) but joining the registry does not obligate you to donate in any way. You always have the option of refusing. Joining the registry is at no cost to you.
The drive is being held at Christian Life Center on Darnestown Road in Gaithersburg (between Quince Orchard and Muddy Branch...just a couple of doors down from Potomac Garden Center) next Sunday, August 8th from 12:30-4:00pm.
Please post or PM me with any questions! Thanks!!
