Does anyone have a recommendation for a cord blood banking organization they'd recommend?

Thanks!

ps I'm asking for a friend who is doing it at the advice of her doctor

We are due to have our first in a couple weeks and didn't really see the reasoning behind banking. I would much rather delay cord clamping so my baby gets all their blood at their birth than bank it just in case. I talked this over at length with my sister (a PhD in neuroscience who works for the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia) and she said she doesn't feel there is adequate facilities or research to prove its effectiveness considering the majority of collections are not viable after a few months. Plus there are no current standards or regulations for cord blood banks to adhere to. She, who is due with baby #1 in about 6 week, said she plans on donating if she can, but she would prefer delaying clamping.

I know this doesn't help, but I don't know of any hospital in MD (where I live) that will accept donations or of a bank that will collect it either. Sorry I couldn't help!
