Hi All,

My name is Nancy and my family and I have moved to Columbia, MD recently from Phoenix, AZ.  I had a wonderful mama group of friends in Phoenix and am missing my tribe terribly here!  Our tribe in Phoenix was diverse, with some families that home-schooled, some unschooled, and some attended school.  My boys are 9 and 11 and attend the local schools here, but I would love to find some  new friends for all of us :)

A little about me:  I am a former LLL Leader, a nurse, and an IBCLC.  I am not working right now other than volunteering at my sons' schools when they need help.  I love knitting, reading, and cooking.  I would love to join a book group and/or a knitting group.

Hoping to find some Columbia mamas soon :)

Nancy

Hi, Nancy and welcome to the area!!  I'm a Baltimore mama and found wonderful community at my DC's school. I found that the way of meeting people changed quite a bit when moving with an older child - you're probably finding that as well, ha?  One thing I felt like in Baltimore is that folks are so diverse here that it makes spotting your like-minded families pretty easy. I hope you have the same luck!

Have you looked into your knitting shops for "stitch and b!tch" type things? If you don't find one locally, there are some in Baltimore that may be worth your trip.

A mom at my DC's school started an after-school knitting club for kids and lots of the other knitting mamas joined as volunteers. I even went to learn that I hate knitting. ;-)

Hopefully you'll find some Columbia mamas here on the boards too!!

Hi Nancy! I'm a leader with the LLL of Columbia, as well as an IBCLC.  We're having an LLL picnic next Sunday  (https://www.facebook.com/events/388723674514623/) and there is a group of local IBCLCs who meet quarterly.  PM me if you want that info.

Looking forward to meeting you!

Wife to a wonderful DH, Mom to 3 amazing girls and one special boy, IBCLC, supporter of moms.
