I am researching which preschool (starting @ age 3) to send my baby to. If you have a child or have some firsthand knowledge of these following schools, please let me know.

Goddard School of Owings Mills
Happy Acres Preschool and Childcare
Kiddie Academy at Owings Mills
Small World

I called Happy Acres. They talked up the fact that they worked really hard on reading and most kids entered K reading on a first grade level. I felt weird about that, because some kids are just not ready to read imo at that age. I don't have any other experience with them, but their playgroud looks great!

I don't know quite what you are looking for in a preschool but I adore the one my kids are going to. It is Glydon United Methodist School. They are small, very loving and patient, they don't rush the academics, and it's lots of fun. I also love the way they have delt with the children who have difficulty separating from mom at drop off time.

Good luck in your search and let me know if you have any questions.

I'm looking for something close to home, strong emphasis on education yet a fun atmosphere.

I personally went to First Baptist Day Care Center in Washington, DC and have nothing but fond memories. Good food, nice teachers, nice friends (one of whom was @ my wedding and I've known for 31 years) and old school attitude towards discipline. Acting the fool was not allowed (plus it's disruptive to other kids trying to learn/have a good time).

I would like something like that...
