I love my lc but I am interested in getting a different opinion on getting my baby back on the breast...any suggestions for people with experience with difficult cases with a slightly older baby (10 weeks)?
Thanks!

There's always LLL -- it's free and there are groups all over this area. You'll find mothers with experience nursing newborns to toddler+. so 10 weeks should be no problem .

To find a LLL near you: http://www.lllofmd-de-dc.org

If you want to find an IBCLC for an individual consultation, you can look up local IBCLCs by zip code here: http://www.ilca.org/falc.html

Or if you post your general area, you might get some personal recommendations for individual IBCLCs. I often recommend Margaret Wills, but she lives in Silver Spring -- don't know if that would work for you! (Her contact info: (301)384-8649 [email protected])

hope that helps-

I saw Kimberly Knight in Severna Park when my baby was about the same age. I really liked her and she also used to run a support group at AAMC. I don't know if she still does it, but her number is 410-533-5343

Thank you all for the suggestions...I called several leaders from the local LLL yesterday and am waiting to hear back...I will try the suggestions but should have mentioned that I am in Baltimore City, and I am limited in transportation during the week...so if there are any specific people in the city I could contact...Thanks again!

If your local LLL hasn't called you back yet you can always call the free national helpline -- 877-4LA-LECHE ... or try calling or emailing a LLLL in another Group near you ... Sorry you are having a hard time!

There are also online LLL support forums: http://forums.llli.org/index.php

Don't know if it would be too far, but Special Beginnings in Arnold, MD, has IBCLCs on staff and they offer free mini-consultations, you might try them as well -- 410.626.8982

Hi Aimee,

I have a few suggestions, some of which have already been listed but here they are:

1. A lactation Consulatnt friend of mine HIGHLY recommends Rebecca Nicodemus. She lives in Howard county and may do house calls as far as baltimore, or you could schedule a meeting with her. Her number is 410-997-1316. I recommend this approach as the QUICKEST way to get yourself back on track!
2. Also International Lactation Consultants www.ILCA.org has a search function where you can serach by your zip code for a LC.
3. Finally Special Beginnings LC, Flossie Rollhauser. Flossie helped me with my 2nd baby, when everyone else was at a loss! She is WONDERFUL. http://www.specialbeginnings.com/bb.html .
