Currently we meet once a month at Borders in Scranton (tonight! : ) but meetings all over NEPA are possible if anyone has any interest. Give me your email addy and I'll add you to our Yahoo list.

We're pretty unstructured and we don't just talk about birth.

Our chapter is a diverse group of holistic moms from throughout West Jersey (Camden, Burlington, and Gloucester Counties) and the Philadelphia area. We welcome all area moms and dads - and expecting parents too! - with an interest in natural health and mindful parenting to visit our monthly meetings. Our goal is to develop a nurturing, supportive and respectful community of holistic parents. Come on out and get connected with other like-minded moms and dads and catch the excitement of our new community!

Our chapter meets on the first Tuesday of each month at 6:00 p.m. at the Colingswood Public Library located at 771 Haddon Avenue in Collingswood, NJ 08108. Collingswood is only 10 minutes from the Liberty Bell, so come on out, Philadelphians! We are also 5 minutes from the Collingswood stop on the PATCO line from Philly.

Birth Light Support Group

Monthly Meetings facilitated by Lexi Abeln, RN, CCE

Second Tuesday of every month
6:30-8:30pm
Om Baby Pregnancy & Parenting Center
2201 Rear Market Street
Camp Hill, PA 17011
717-761-4975

For many, childbirth is one of the most amazing, fulfilling experiences of one’s life. However, unforeseen, difficult, disappointing, and sometimes traumatic events in your birthing experience may leave women and their partners feeling confused, shocked, hurt, isolated and empty. With these unexpected births, many women will feel a sense of failure. Giving birth to a healthy baby is always important, but does not automatically erase a mother’s or parent’s feelings of inadequacy related to their birth.

The Birth Light support group is a safe place for women and partners to gather into a supportive community who needs to process through unexpected and sometimes traumatic birth experiences. Birth Light is a place to tell your story and listen to others’ stories as we begin to weave through the process of healing.

Birth Light is for anyone who feels they may need support in working through their childbirth experience, regardless of how long it’s been since their birth.

This event is free, but please consider making a small donation to help defray costs.

“Life is here to teach us as we go along, and parenting is just one very special course - with no textbook. We just have to show up for class each and every moment.” ~ Julie Kailus

At the heart of Mindful Parenting is the desire to be more fully human rather than being the perfect parent. Mindfulness Meditation and Mindful Parenting skills can help you learn how to respond instead of react, experience more “being” and less “doing," foster a greater connection and attunement with yourself and your loved ones, manage daily parenting and family life with increased joy and decreased stress, and to take time to care for your own wellbeing.

“Mindful parenting is a way of riding the roller coaster with your eyes open, your mind clear, your body relaxed, and your spirit and heart involved – rather than clutching on for dear life, clenching shut, and not really enjoying the ride at all. In some ways, it’s about riding it for all it’s worth.” ~ Cassandra Vieten, Ph.D.
