RAW MILK: An Organic Perspective on Farm Fresh Food
Tuesday, August 4th, 7:00PM
Mercer County Library
2751 US Hwy 1
Lawrenceville, NJ 08648
Farm fresh foods have nourished humanity since the dawn of agriculture, but in our modern culture the freedom to eat traditional foods that have not been pasteurized, homogenized, hydrogenated, irradiated, fumigated etc., is becoming increasingly difficult.
Raw milk is a traditional farm fresh food that is was once widely consumed. While it is still legal to drink raw milk (and many dairy farm families enjoy it everyday) it is currently illegal for New Jersey farmers to sell or distribute raw milk.
What can history teach us about the food safety of raw milk and pasteurized milk?
Are there any nutritional differences between raw and pasteurized milk?
Are there differences between raw milks?
We welcome Joseph R. Heckman, Ph.D, a Professor at Rutgers University, to help us distinguish the fact from fiction. As a Soil Fertility Specialist, he has done extensive research on the History, Philosophy and Sociology of Organic Farming and has recently hosted a seminar series on Raw Milk at Rutgers.
Please join us for this exciting meeting to learn about the history, politics, and science of milk!

Note - Snacks and socializing begin at 6:45pm with the lecture following.
