Any recommendations on midwives in the State College Area? Has anyone had a homebirth w/ someone they would recommend? Any experiences w/Barbara ****** at Lewistown Hospital?
My name is Wilma Aponte, I live in State College, PA. We want to have a home birth, after our first labor experience at the Mount Nitany Hospital. It wasn't a good experience but I hope for our next child we are plan to try to have a home birth for our next one. I triend to find midwives here, but somehow they are not listed anymore with the hospital. I saw your post in the Homebirth Midwives near State College, PA column and I was wondering if you could share with me the info the midwife that assisted you last year in your labor.
Sarah DePasquale and Lisa Beherec are FANTASTIC!!! They were my midwives for my daughters birth, and I couldn't have asked for better care. I would use them again in a heartbeat, if only we were a little closer (we moved 8 hours away.
) PM me if you still want/need their contact info.
I am not able to send you a private message for some reason (I am new to this). Would you mind sending me the midwives information to my email at lockaraj@hotamil.com. Thanks!
Hi becca I joined so I could message you about your midwives info. Not sure how to do that. Can you message me or email me that info. Thanks.. Alexncourtbarnhart@yahoo.com
Hi all, what a great discussion as I am wondering the same things.....could anyone, someone please also email me the info on the local midwives, I live in Bellefonte, and am currently going to geisinger greys woods for prenatal care (just found out, Due March 30!!) so the info would be great so we could start out right. I am surprised there isnt a larger market in the area around the university. My email is agk810@hotmail.com. Thanks ladies that would be awesome. And perhaps I may see some of you there!
Hi everyone, I too live in the Bellefonte, Pa area and I just found out I am pregnant. I would like to find a midwife and explore different options outside of a hospital setting. Could someone recommend anyone to me? Are there any good birthing centers around?
Hi everyone, I am new on here. I just moved to the State College, Bellefonte area and I recently found out I am expecting. I would like to try out a midwife since my last hospital experience was less than stellar. If anyone has any recommendations I would surly appreciate it. Right now I can't PM anyone but if you wanted to email me you can --> kgalea13@gmail.com Also, does anyone know of any birthing centers, that situation would be ideal. ^_~ have a great day!
I'm a CNM in State College...30 years of midwifery experience, mostly in Florida...home, hospital, and birth center. I used to work with the midwives at Mt. Nittany Med. Ctr. until the practice was closed against our wishes. I am considering offering home birth services in the S.C. area, but know it will be a bit tough since PA law require CNM's to have OB-GYN contracted backup and malpractice insurance. Haven't quite worked out the logistics yet, but am interested in knowing what the level of interest is. Just thought I'd let y'all know there is some hope for help that doesn't involve traveling over the mountain!
If anyone would like to contact me, you can email me at <bevjarrett@me.com> , but as I said, it's a work in progress.
Hello everyone...I am a Traditional midwife located in Emporium PA...I will travel to the State College area for home births...my email is jzucalkelly@yahoo.com for anyone who is interested. However, I am expecting a baby myself in March and will be taking time off from approximately end of February to beginning of May.
Hi All ~ I know that finding midwives in the State College area can be a difficult process. I am a doula who has been attending births in State College for over 12 years. If you are looking for a midwife or doula in the State College area feel free to contact me. Most of the midwives keep a low profile and don't post info online. I'm new to posting on this site, but you can reach me through my website: www.PAdoula.com
Hi! I'm a doula and childbirth educator in SC. Had a homebirth myself and I try to keep as exhaustive a list of midwives as possible; if I can find them, I write them down. So message me if you need help!
Hi I am 12 weeks pregnant and my husband and our two boys are moving up to Philipsburg Pa next month (30 min outside State College Pa) As my husband will be attending Grad school at Penn State. I am looking for a home birth midwife and is wondering if anyone knows of any in that area? I had had a midwife for delivering both of my sons and can't imagine it any other way. I am worried about finding one since Philipsburg is a little "out there" Can anyone help? Thank you!
alyssa, email me at statecollegedoula (at) gmail $dot$ com and I will give you names! That is on the side of State College that is farther away from where most of the midwives I know are, but I have some contacts for you for sure!
I know this is an old post, but for those who are currently looking for a homebirth midwife...I am a CPM who recently moved in to the area, and I'd love to talk with anyone interested! Feel free to find out more at www.gentlemidwife.wordpress.com
