Hello Abby

This it's a great idea!

You may already have this recommendation but for Parenting Classes in NYC, Mary Esther Malloy is really wonderful. She runs Bradley classes at 14th St. Y, http://www.mindfulbirthny.com/

We came into the classes totally clueless about how the medical system works here (we're from the UK) and it was a real eye opener, so much so that ended up changing doctors and hospitals at the eleventh hour so that we could have a less interventionist birth. If you're interested in more recommendations for doctors, midwives etc let me know - I can't vouch for them myself but from people in my class and from Mary Esther who has had years in this field.

I would also highly recommend Mia Borgatta for prenatal yoga in NYC, http://www.lilawellness.com/. I tried quite a few different classes around the city and found hers to be very holistic and she is extremely experienced many aspects of birth as well. I didn't continue in the end as it was a bit too far for me to travel everyday but would still recommend her :)

It sounds like you are just starting to gather info, but if you have any recommendations for naturopathic or more holisitc paediatricians in NYC, I'd be really interested to know.

Good luck with the project!

In the Westchester area, but I've had students come as far as the Bronx for birth ed classes.
